Twelve Dimensions reflection

Part one :

Based on my CMI report the four dimensions I’m going to describe are : Communication , Status , Destiny and Decision Making.

First of all, Communication : It has two polarities which are Direct and Indirect communication. Communicating directly is to get straight to the point without going back and forth, indirect communication on the other hand is to get the information to the other person using a middleman.

Status, it is to either be Ascribed, born with some privileges such as a known family name, wealth or power, or you make your own name by achieving your goals and dreams.

Destiny, you’re either guided by an outside force towards your future, or you make your own path in life by making your own decisions.

Last, Decision Making, which is making a decision based on one of two polarities, rules or relationship, which one do you rely on when making decisions.

Part two :

A- I learned from these results that no two people are alike, you’ll always find a difference. I also learned that I can use the results to figure out how to deal with different types of people and how to improve my communication skills. For example if I was a teacher I should work by the rules, but I’ll choose to pass on some of them to make a better teaching environment for the students as well as making a better relationship with them.

B- I do agree with most of the results. They represent who I am as a person today and where I stand in terms of Dimensions. But some results were a bit off in my opinion, The report said that I gave more importance to time, I think I give more importance to people.

Part three :

A-    I think in five years time some of my results will be different, but most of them will stay the same. Because, these results represent my personality and I don’t think that my personality will change, although some aspects of it may evolve and that will affect the results.

B- I’m not sure if want my results to be different, but I know that I want to be a better person and a change in those results mean a change in my personality  so if that change is for a better me  then I’m up for it.

Exercise #2

A- world views

What is my world view and why is it diffrent than yours ?

First of all in my opinion every person is unique, so they're tastes and ways of thinking vary. I myself have a diffrent definition of shame and honor than you. When I think of honor the first thing that comes to my mind is my family. That being said, I think that right and wrong comes before honor and shame in some situations. Power and fear come after the previous two in my opinion, maybe it's because of the way I was raised or the place I grew up in, these two factors were probably the reason behind the order of each world view.

B- There was a conflict in how to dress publicly. Some UAE locals think that expats don't care about their culture and rules and dress improperly. On the other hand expats believe that they're innocent of what locals think claiming that most of the people who dress improperly are unaware that their clothes conflict the way locals dress. There's no real problem here because this is a minor issue that can be solved by teaching tourist about our culture and way of thinking once they get here by handing them fliers and showing them educational videos. Locals can help by being more understanding and help teach expats how to adapt to our culture and society.

#exercise 1

In my opinion animals shouldn't be killed for pleasure but that's just my opinion. Bull fighting is considered a sport to many people and a part of an ancient culture and history so we can't interfere with it.
